Care Following Dental Implants

We have just completed the prosthesis for your oral implants. Such implants have been placed successfully for over 25 years. The following information will be interesting and useful for you relative to future expectations for your implants and the prosthesis placed on them.

Acceptance of dental implants by bone and gum tissue has been excellent, however a few implants fail. Additionally, the prosthesis that have been placed over the implants are subject to wear and/or breakage. Any of the following conditions that occur require your immediate attention. Please contact us if any of the following conditions occur:

  1. Feeling of looseness
  2. Peculiar
  3. Clicking or metallic snap while eating
  4. Breaking a piece of the prosthesis
  5. Redness in the gum tissue around the implant
  6. Feeling of the bite being different
  7. Pain
We have done our best to provide to you the highest quality service available. The continuing success of the implant and prosthesis is up to you. Please do the following items checked:
  1. Visit us for examination, scaling, and polishing at least once every six months.
  2. Clean the implant daily, especially before bedtime using:
  3. Floss
  4. Bridge cleaner
  5. Toothbrush
  6. Interplak mechanical toothbrush
  7. Peridex

Your failure to accomplish thorough cleaning of the implant prosthesis daily will compromise its longevity significantly. We expect years of service from this therapy. Over a number of years, you will gradually wear out the prosthesis portion.

Dental Implants

Our cosmetic dentistry has specialized over years on dental implants. Dr. Gary O’Brien understands the negative effects that missing teeth have on a person’s confidence and self-esteem. He knows the importance on a patient’s life of being capable to live without embarrassment and inconvenience while eating, talking or even just smiling; some of the actions that for most of us happen unaware may be actions that patients suffering this condition avoid at all cost to do.

You might not be as lonely as you think with your problem. In fact, you will realize why it’s so unnecessary to sleep over a solution when it is already handy: If you lost a tooth or more due to an accident or a periodontal disease but you are in generally good oral health, your solution is given here and you just have to scroll down to read it.
